Urban Portrait Photography: ‘FHM Honey’ Lisa-Marie in Manchester
Posted on January 16, 2012
Welcome to my new style web-site for 2012. To kick-start the blog section I’ve decided to share a selection of my favourite images taken whilst on my first shoot with trainer/mentor Damien Lovegrove and ‘FHM Honey’ model Lisa-Marie.
As with most occupations, training is often key to moving a career forward and keeping up-to-date with changes in an evolving industry. Finding good training for photographers is not an easy task, and although my judgement was initially based on being inspired by Damien’s portfolio of images, his background credentials are equally as impressive. Damien learned his trade as a cameraman and lighting director during 14 years at the BBC, before becoming one of the UK’s most successful wedding and social photographers, a published writer and regular trade magazine columnist. Damien is also a ‘Master of the Craft’ in the Guild of Photographers, which is an accolade that has only been given to 5 other photographers worldwide.
We shot around urban portraiture areas of Manchester on a cold but sunny day in March. The focus of the day was mixing ambient light with lightweight photographic lighting to create a set of high quality ‘editorial grade’ images in an urban environment. I’ve selected ten of my favourite images from the shoot to share with you below. Please feel free to click on the first image to open the gallery.
